Automated Centrifuges

MIKRO 220 Robotic

  • High‑Capacity and High‑Performance Centrifugation:
Models in this category deliver high speeds and relative centrifugal forces (RCFs) for rapid and efficient separation of large sample volumes, including tubes, bottles, plates, and blood bags, supporting a broad range of laboratory applications.

  • Flexible Rotor and Adapter Options:
Automated centrifuges support a range of rotors and adapter configurations, allowing them to process diverse sample formats—from microtubes and conical tubes to larger containers—without manual intervention.

  • Robotic Lid Control and Safety Interlocks:
Featuring automated lid opening, secure locking mechanisms, and safety interlocks synced with robotic systems, these centrifuges ensure safe, reliable operation even in fully unattended workflows.

  • Programmable Workflows:
Advanced control interfaces with programmable speed, time, temperature (where refrigerated), and acceleration/braking profiles, allowing repeatable and traceable centrifuge cycles tailored to different protocols.

  • Reliable Refrigeration Options:
Several models include precise temperature control (e.g., refrigerated variants) to maintain temperature‑sensitive samples throughout automated runs.

  • Integrated Safety and Diagnostics:
Automated centrifuges feature imbalance detection with automatic shut‑off, rotor recognition, emergency lid release, and reinforced chamber design for dependable operation in automated lines.

  • Optimized for Throughput and Efficiency:
Designed with fast acceleration and deceleration profiles and compatibility with lab automation software, these centrifuges minimize cycle times and optimize sample throughput in busy laboratory environments.

Fast, Compact & Efficient

The MIKRO 220 Robotic is an air-cooled, robotically operated microlitre centrifuge with PC activation. It centrifuges tubes up to 2.0 ml (e.g. microlitre tubes or HPLC tubes) quickly and safely. This qualifies it for sample preparation in research laboratories of the life sciences as well as for daily routine tasks in medical diagnostics or industrial quality control.

Wherever processes can be automated, MIKRO 220 Robotic centrifuges will optimize the workflow. Samples are centrifuged automatically while the laboratory personnel are able to concentrate on other tasks. As loading and unloading is carried out by means of a robot arm, the samples are made available for further processing right after centrifugation.

Areas of applications

Clinical

This automated centrifuge is ideal for the preparation of small clinical samples as well as for the preparation of bacteria for diagnostic purposes. It´s high speed swing-out rotor for microliter tubes ensures a quick and accurate separation result. Due to its compact design the centrifuge fits into almost all HTP-platforms.

Life Science

The high-speed of up to a RCF of 18,000 enables the automation of molecular biology applications like nucleic acid preparation, extractions and PCR sample preparation. According to this the centrifuge could be integrated into fully automated NGS automates for sample preparation.
