Smart Chamber

8200-01S

The 8200-01S Smart Chamber is a portable, self-powered 20 cm survey chamber used to assess the spatial variability of soil gas fluxes. When connected to a LI-COR gas analyzer, the Smart Chamber computes real-time fluxes that you can see live from your mobile device or laptop.

The Smart Chamber can also connect with a third-party gas analyzer to measure fluxes from an expanded range of soil gases. Third-party analyzer data is collected alongside auxiliary and GPS data. Fluxes can be computed once both files have been imported and synchronized in SoilFluxPro Software.

Features

The Smart Chamber Difference

  • Real-time flux processing with a LI-COR gas analyzer.
  • Connect to the embedded Wi-Fi web server to view configuration, real-time data, and diagnostics.
  • Portable and self-powered with long-lasting batteries.
  • GPS integration.
  • Use with a third-party gas analyzer or the Trace Gas Sampling Kit.

Auxiliary data collection

The Smart Chamber comes equipped with a Stevens HydraProbe soil moisture and temperature probe, temperature thermistor, and integrated GPS measurements. This auxiliary data is captured concurrently with gas flux data, and provides the data needed to compute and support flux measurements.

How are LI-COR chambers different?

The Smart Chamber and all LI-COR chambers are specifically designed to minimize their impact on the natural soil activity with consideration toward:

  • Maintaining ambient pressure.
  • Achieving air mixing without a fan.
  • Accounting for the impact of altered diffusion gradient on the flux.
