The Hitachi High-Tech Vulcan+ range is a family of handheld Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) analyzers designed for fast metal alloy identification and elemental analysis directly at the point of inspection. With measurement results available in approximately one second, Vulcan+ enables users to rapidly verify materials, sort alloys, and perform quality-control checks without the use of X-rays.
The range is designed for demanding industrial environments, combining a lightweight handheld design with IP54 protection, MIL-STD-810G compliance, sapphire-glass protected optics, and long battery life. Its point-and-shoot operation helps minimize operator training while supporting high-throughput analysis.
Vulcan+ models can identify a wide range of alloys, including stainless steels, low-alloy steels, tool steels, nickel alloys, aluminum and magnesium alloys, as well as other alloy groups depending on the model and calibration package. The Optimum+ model is particularly suited to aluminum-alloy analysis, including lithium in aluminum alloys.
Why choose a Vulcan handheld LIBS Analyzer?
Significantly increase productivity
Increasing the number of analyzes a day can make all the difference, especially with large inventory checks.
Low cost of ownership
As Vulcan is a laser induced breakdown tool, typically there’s no need for staff to attend expensive and time consuming radiation classes and certification training.
Built to last
IP54 certified, NEMA3 equivalent and complies with MIL-STD-810G military grade for ruggedness.
Our LIBS spectrometer features
Simple to use
Intuitive user interface combined with point-and shoot LIBS analysis reduces or even removes the chance of user-related errors
Advanced data management
Transfer and store all your results securely in our cloud service and use one of the most advanced reporting tools on the market. Vulcan also connects with your mobile to add photos to the results and to share data instantly.
Robust and durable
Splash water and dust proof, Vulcan’s measurement optics are protected by sapphire glass, one of the toughest materials available.
Long battery life
A single battery charge will last up to 8 hours when analyzing one sample every 5 seconds. Two batteries are included in the delivery.
